What does the chamber do?
Strengthening the Sense of Community – The fabric of a community – whether a neighborhood, a named rural community or one of our four cities – is made up of people who relate to each other through family ties, churches and organizations. Stronger ties among members of a group of people strengthen the fabric of their community and build a greater sense of belonging, self-worth and productivity. To support this, the county’s chamber of commerce invites individuals, students and families to become a member and automatically be connected with the community or group of their choice.
Promoting Your Business – New members get 15 free 30-second spots of advertising with KVOM 101.7 FM for joining. Members are included in the chamber’s printed member directory that reaches households throughout the county and is also available online. When inquiries are made, the staff exclusively refers chamber members. Members may also display information about their business or organization in the chamber office.
Weekly E-newsletters – Every week, the chamber distributes an email to all of its members. This is a great way for members to promote their events and to stay informed of what is happening in the local business community.
Building a Business Leader Network – Members can host a Business After Hours reception. The event is organized to provide a networking opportunity with other business leaders and provides a chance to showcase a business or organization for other leaders in the community.
Ribbon-cuttings – If a business is opening, changing locations or has made some big changes, the chamber will organize a ribbon-cutting ceremony to help celebrate! The chamber advertises the ceremony in its weekly email and sends a photo and article about the business or organization to the local paper.
Hot Deals and Member-To-Member Deals – Hot Deals, sometimes called Community Deals, are specials that a member desires to post for consumer viewing on the chamber website. Member-to-Member (M2M) deals are also available.
Online Presence – Visitors can link directly to a business webpage through the chamber’s online directory. The chamber also has a Facebook page where the chamber posts ribbon-cuttings and promotes member events.
